I wish that movie had more to it. Felt like it was missing an act.

>infiltration of bunker where they find The Sentry
>showing up at that Watchtower building

That was the entire movie there. Legit it feels like it's missing an act.

The Sentry had the perfect introduction/origin story.

You literally did not know whether or not this guy was insane or a hero until the very end of the first issue, and even then it was a bit ambiguous.

The character had so much potential but right as they were establishing him the entire Civil War arc kicked in and he basically became just Tony's muscle and he never recovered from that.
All the nuance and complexity that the character could've had was discarded and he just became "really strong guy that stands in the background".

They had Thor do that role for a while too, but then made up some lore stuff for Thor do so, so Sentry just slinked into that role permanently.

Such a waste.

Sentry should have had Captain Marvel's place in the MCU. His origin and Void make more sense for his absence than Carol just fucking off to space and ignoring Earth and Thanos does.
Carol should have replaced Maria Hil, they could have built her up from Fury's right hand to getting powers during Endgame

New character aren't allowed (unless they're muh diversity grrlboss or black replacements). Everything has to be the status quo. Writers seemed to genuinely hate him being a new character that was more powerful than their favorites and had to write him as constantly losing.

The only Sentry movie worth making is an adaptation of his original series >>212883024 but they already cucked themselves out of it by giving him a simpler introduction.
Literally nothing else of any interest has ever been done with this character. It's just an endless cycle of "he's so back and the greatest hero in the world > oh shit he's crazy and evil > he dies > repeat".

His introduction wasn't bad. The comic origin is better but in the film they let him have chemistry with other characters which wasn't really done that well before.

The Sentry sucks as a character, though. You'd have to ignore pretty much all existing stories he's been in because nothing happens, he's never allowed to actually use his powers except for when he fought the Hulk, and that's it. The rest, he's just never properly utilised and spends most of the time being a whiny bitch.

Problem is that (in the comics) he is always written as a backup for someone else or some group/organization.
He almost has no agency on his own and never does anything by himself.

They managed to (successfully) convert that into the movie by having him just be super insecure and need constant patting on the back. It works in that context. But in the comics he's just boring as fuck and has zero character.

I picked this sort of at random to see what these movies are getting up to in current year. It's really funny to me seeing a lot of the same issues the comic book industry ran into circling back around. Real bloat of characters, trying to find stories that'll work without rebooting everything. If the writing was any better this situation could actually be interesting but they still haven't seemed to figure that part out.
