This movie had an interesting premise, but it was executed poorly, especially in the third part where the action was just boring. It was also one of Michael B. Jordan's worst roles, though I blame the script more than anything.

Same. To me it's kind of like Prometheus where it's super dumb and super poignant at the same time, and just supremely entertaining.
I also think it had the best vampire concept I've seen in a while, possibly ever, it's like it was designed to appeal to me specifically. It's a totally fresh take on the inherent tragedy of vampirism. This and the comfy mix of serious and goofy tone make it easy for me to forgive some of the outright retardation in the movie.

Only thing I didn't like was that they weren't just music/social vampires. They were like this weird hybrid that were weak like classical vampires to goofy shit like garlic. I think you could've removed that element along with the herbal whale and it would've been 10/10.
