I think the Star Wars Holiday Special is better than the Force Awakens and it's not even close.

For any given moment in TFA to make sense, every 20 minutes has to be set in a different universe than the last 20 minutes. Everything offscreen is in a state of superposition where multiple contradictory things have to be happening all at once. It's like the state of the rest of the galaxy is different from scene to scene to allow the plot to happen.

At least Revenge of the Sith had stakes and heart. We cared about the characters and we didn't want Anakin to went rogue even though we knew that is what happened.
In Force Awakens I couldn't care not even for Han Solo's death.
