What's the point of buying blu-rays when eventually everything will be on 4k blu-ray and you'll buy all of them again? If you really wanted to start a physical movie collection you should only be buying 4k blu-rays because it will be the last format and there will never be anything better than it.

It really do be like this. I know a man so pussywhipped, his whole house is a monument to her. Meanwhile, anything that might remotely reflect his preferences is all relegated to the basement. The man is a cave dweller. A Morlock. He only emerges from the depths of his man cave to feed. He's put that pussy so high up on a pedestal, it has scarcely left him any room to breathe.

Developing a new disc format costs a lot of money and the market for physical media is too small for that kind of investment now. And anyway, 35mm film only resolves to about 3k, so it will never look better than what's available on 4k blu-ray now.

Not often but you'd get the odd one over the years at social gatherings and such. Like they'd start by showing off the home cinema setup because the topic shifted to 'seen any good movies lately'. It was more common the days of DVD.

In a few years you can probably download a 4K rip of every movie ever made onto your personal online storage of choice. Browse instantly by genre, star rating, release date etc. Then play it instantly.

I love playing old PC games on original hardware, and each time that floppy drive spins it's closer to never working ever again. That's okay, it's supposed to be that way.

Movies aren't like that. Physically collecting movies doesn't really make any sense.

No. Because Trump is going to make possession of films not tied to a streaming license illegal. Including personal back ups.

We used to get into storage bins, slap the lid on, and push each other down the basement stairs. When the neighborhood got new trash bins wed also hope into them, another kid would whip them down my friend's driveway, and the point of the game was to wait at the bottom and slam into the bin and knock it to the ground to see how hurt the kid in the bin would get

One of the gravest sins distributors committed was not including full technical details on the back cover.
So instead of simply reading the box, you have to do a whole homework assignment and comparisons to find out if it's uncropped or pan and scan fullscreen.
