To be fair, his escape is pretty easy to assume. He threw the flare, which distracted the D.rex (the same thing they did with the flares and T.rex in the original Jurassic Park), allowing him to slip underwater and swim away. He probably has to get a little lucky with avoiding the D.rex's limbs after it realizes he has escaped, but that doesn't last long as the D.rex gives up on him and returns to the main group.

What annoys me is they never planned to kill the D-rex in the script. That's like the one thing monster movies are supposed to do. You base your marketing around this mutant dinosaur, it's structured like a B-movie, then you just end it on a wet fart? Even syfy originals had better endings.

They killed the Indominus and Indoraptors in JW1 and JW2, so why not this one? They even had a line in the movie that suggested euthanasia for these mutants

I don't mind their not killing the dinosaurs. That's what they were trying to go for in the original trilogy, they didn't kill any of the T.rexes or Spino (hell, they went out of their way to *save* the T.rexes at the end of TLW).

Feeling the need to kill the mutant dinosaurs just because they're mutants gives a bit of a bad vibe, especially because they *try* to make them sympathetic at times. The I.rex was literally described as being fucked up due to the shitty conditions it was raised/caged in. It was hard to feel bad for the IndoRaptor given that it was literally played as a smirking villain, but the I.rex and D.rex both had kinda sad backgrounds.

God I hate the whole hybrid Dino thing with Jurassic world. Nobody wants that. They just want dinosaurs on cool spooky mysterious ingen island. Basically “Lost” with dinosaurs so you could say the lost world. People want the wonder of a mysterious island with an ecosystem filled with dinosaurs and old ingen facilities with a mysterious story behind them. Not “it’s a raptor hybrid again”. If you are going to show anything other than dinosaurs, anything at all, it better be a prehistoric creature like a Sabre tooth or something. Mutants can have their own franchise stat out of Jurassic park movies.

The last one and one before it were real slop, despite actually having Grant and Malcolm parts. I don’t know why people are still going to see these.
