1. Interpersonal drama being a lot more intense (particularly the evolution of Anakin's relationship with Padme and Obi-Wan, although it often takes flak for not being well-acted, Anakin and Padme's relationship has a visceral intensity to it that Han and Leia's lacks)
2. Showing the good guys to be fallible. Not just Anakin Skywalker who ultimately succumbs to his greed and fear and becomes a villain, but the Jedi Order itself. It's shown to be an institution that while well-meaning, is fundamentally flawed and is ultimately brought down by said flaws. The Rebel Alliance on the other hand isn't really shown to have any flaws or setbacks apart from the Battle of Hoth where a bunch of nameless extras get killed.
