They should've kept the scene in the script where Jesus Christ is revealed to have been one of the Engineers. People would still be talking about it for better or worse.

Out of curiosity, did David actually wiped them all out? Seems odd for them to have just 1 planet.
I would like to see humanity goatse both them and the yautja.

It's pretty cool that this guy who was presumably commandering a ship whose purpose is the fecundaiton of otherwise barren planets, is peering through his cock-scope to find new places to spread its seed.
Once they get there, a brave engineer steps out and does the needful, as shown in prometheus.
But I still don't get how the alien fits in all of this. Was it really just a bioweapon used by engineers to cull populations that got too big or bold?

Maybe they were a weapon used to liquidate life on planets so that they could then seed with their own DNA/goo? It wasn’t that they just wanted life they wanted it to be originated from themselves. Any other life that became independent of them was destroyed.

I liked Prometheus and the ambiguity is what made it cool. You can wonder about it not just be spoon fed everything. It’s the difference between something interesting and capeshit.

yeah see this is where the whole jesus angle makes me cringe. so the engineers are a race focused on sacrificing themselves to create more life, right? which I get as to how that relates to jesus and the dying god archetype and all that jungian bullshit. but then why do they get mad and try to wipe out humanity with bioweapons when they send jesus to their planet and they kill him? did jesus not drink the magic goo before they killed him? I thought they were kinda implying the last supper was the magic goo or whatever. but then I dont remember a bunch of life forms springing from jesus when he died, he comes back to life and goes to heaven. so if jesus was an alien did alien engineer jesus just come back to life with magic bio tech and then ascend back to his space ship and fuck off? so then why are the aliens mad? why would they be so focused on destroying some primitive race of cave people because they poked one of their dudes with a spear when hes supposed to die anyways? its all very stupid and not thought out very well, as if ridley just wanted to throw some religious analogies in there without really thinking about them or having it make any sense. then retards can talk about how deep it was without it actually making any real intellectual impressions

It's not even alluded to in the actual films, which removes the explanation as to why the Engineers suddenly want to destroy humanity

Prometheus is not a part of alien. It's just riding the coattails pretending so it could get an already established fanbase. The story of Alien and Aliens is pretty straightforward. The others were just nonsense cashcrabs

I mean other planets where life may have evolved independently of them. They have a god complex and would see life that didn’t originate from them as unclean or impure and eradicate it before reseeding with their own selves.

>>212911676
I thought it was more that the Engineers were aware of Jesus and his fate not that Jesus was an engineer (that doesn’t make sense).

Not sure how you got that idea. The xenomorph itself didn't come from them. They just liked creating life in places. There's no indication they wanted to destroy any life and the opposite, they claimed to like peace and non-violence so would tolerate other life as long as it wasn't a threat. They lost their own ability to reproduce and took on using the deacon blood which changed them over time likely making them more suited to the deacon's purposes rather than their own. Like it was taking over them over the years which is way the engineer they woke up had an integrated suit and was quick to anger. While ancient engineers were suitless and peaceful

>The xenomorph itself didn't come from them
I figured the deacon, that is, the proto-xeno, came from a corruption of purity. It only comes into existence because David spiked a human's drink with a non-lethal dose of goo, which was then transmitted to a womb-having human through intercourse, who then gave birth to an abomination, that then subdued an engineer and gave birth to the deacon. So the xeno did come from them.

Better than a retarded elephant man with a trunk entering his stomach.

If you look at the original artwork, it's an alien humanoid fused with a machine to the point where you can't tell where the alien ends and machine begins, but the "Trunk" always looked to be a breathing apparatus and this was sort of lost with the sculpture.

I don't think they needed to be pale humanoids, but lets not pretend AVP designs for these things were better. They are unimaginative and dogshit.
Pale giga chads at least had the concept of a bio-mechanical suit fused to their skin which understood the original concept a bit.

Xenos were a backup failsafe so if one of the engineers creations ever came in contact with the goo it'd mutate them again into whatever's needed to start a xeno nest. Like some sort of curse or divine punishment for trying to understand the engineers and not accepting their place in the universe.
>>212916169
I think of it more as one of those small nods to how far along humanity is as a space going race. Like the Marines mentioning "bug hunts" Like we've been at it so long finding evidence of another civilization or species just happens sometimes and the mystique has worn away by the time of Alien/Aliens. I don't think it's entirely intentional but it feels like it implies something.

Because the Derelict was designed to be a parallel to the Nostromo initially, with the xenos being cargo they simply discovered.

There was still uncertainty even into the second movie whether or not aliens in general had been discovered.

No, idiot, bug hunt has always meant a pointless waste of time finding nothing. They have never found anything alien and expect the same here. They mock her relentlessly for suggesting it and no one believes her. They joke about previous missions always just being broken colonist equipment and fucking their daughters. Try paying attention instead of making up headcanon bullshit.
