i dont get this at all.
i saw SW when i was small in the cinema.
you could get the 'soundtrack' which was a shortened audio version of the movie dialogue, parents borrows that from the library on 12 inch record, copied it to tape and i would listen to it while i did kid stuff in my room.
empire strikes back came out, i diddnt get to see it but i had the story in a hardback annual and i made the cut out ships/scenes with rub-down transfers that you got on the back of cerial boxes.
ROTJ came along, i got the book, read it lots, got to see the movie to.
diddnt get to see empire on VHS till much later but i diddnt care for some reason.
I saw SW at its peak and no fucker is taking that away from me.
Im just sad that its never been as good again.
its a similar experience with Alien/Aliens before people decided to turn the franchise into a pile of moronic shit.

leaving ep7 theaters after credits, first thing i did was compare it to episode 1, which was way better. The prequels certainly do have flaws, but also alot of really good ideas, it's a mixed bag. Even as a despecialized OT purist, i still think they could have also been improved, perhaps nothing in art is perfect, i'll settle for the good must outweigh the bad.
