War and Peace is genuinely unadaptable. Even if you tried your hardest, you would only get the skeleton of the book down, but nothing else.

Can't see how this could work. You could sort of stage some of the scenes but you would lose everything that makes the book what it is.

I disagree. "Unadaptable" means more than just "you would lose a lot". There are many good books which would lose more.

You would need to do it as a TV series or perhaps a trilogy of movies, to get a decent proportion of the stuff in. OK, that's been done. Not great but it's a starting-point.

You probably want occasional voice-over as well, to get some of the essential interiority. Not too much, or you're just doing an audiobook with accompanying pictures. But that's OK. No-one complains about the voice-over in Goodfellas, etc.

It'd be impossible to do Blindsight well. The whole point is to prove that Siri is an unreliable narrator and largely a dupe. Doing that in film would either just render him an immediate idiot (something happens, he makes the wrong conclusion, the audience laughs at him), or make it like Momento, which would put all the attention on Siri and not his circumstances. You'd need to change the characters and his relationships with them to make him a true fish-out-of-water. He can't connect with anyone at all, and is rapidly going insane around these cyborgs and aliens that are unconcerned with his ideas of humanity.
