>>212926358Even as a child who watched pretty much anything, I found Captain Planet to be not terrible but really preachy, I imagine I'd find it borderline unwatchable now, with the only things worth watching being the celebs they got to voice the villains and the batshit insane things that would happen, like the AIDS episode where they somehow got Elizabeth Taylor to voice the mother of a kid with aids. Hollywood's been talking about doing a Captain Planet movie for years, at least since the mid 90's with celebs like DiCaprio and Don Cheadle involved, but not because the show was good, it's obviously only because its a perfect vehicle for climate change propaganda.
It really makes me wonder if they're even aware of what a lousy reputation Captain Planet has, to the point that Cartoon Network even made bumpers mocking what a lame excuse for a hero he was.

Hell, I read that Captain Planet was apparently so unpopular that the final season only aired in Australia and didn't air over here until the late 2000's during reruns on boomerang. I mean, for fuck's sake the show was so unpopular that Shout Factory only released the first season (or half of it) on dvd and didn't release the rest because there was absolutely no demand for it.
