>this made millennials absolutely fucking lost their minds
>they got kicked out of gyms for recreating it
>they themed marriage proposals around it and posted them on Facebook
>one bride even went down the wedding aisle on a giant conveyor belt while Here It Goes Again was playing

In the mid 00s people weren't churning out millions of hours of eslop content every day.
Much fewer things went viral so those that did had a much longer shelf life and period of being forwarded and passed around, even finding its way to oldies that weren't even on the internet at the time.

It tracks even further back, with shit like Hamsterdance ending up being passed around in office email chains to white collar wagies.
South Park got its start from a short animation that people were obsessively passing around to each other as a fucking VHS tape. Imagine that
>you gotta see this epic new meme animation bro yeah you'll have to take this tape home after work and plug it into ur VCR
They made a fucking 26 season TV show out of that meme.

Memes now are forgotten about within a week when something new comes up.

It took thought, planning, and creativity. Something that would never happen today.

after being heavily annoyed by its endless relevance in the 00s I looked it up again a few years back and found the song had aged pretty well and was decent pop rock with surprisingly decent swagger

Its insane how Zoomers have absolutely no trends. They can't even create memes because they're bombarded with so much shit on Tiktok that their brain resets in 5-10 seconds. Most memes nowadays are created by corporations like Chicken Jockey or the Grimace Shake

I've literally never heard of it. In 2006 we were listening to hiphop like Kanye, Lil Wayne, etc. Maybe I just grew up more urban.

The /tv/ populace right now legitimately are the stomp stomp clap dweebs from that era. I was shocked when I found this out. What a grim set of affairs.

NTA but you must have lived under a rock. This predated planking and the Harlem shake by at least half a decade and was one of the first viral videos of its type. The song itself also got significant play

This video made it their gimmick to have interesting music videos. And they are interesting, cool to watch and appreciate the effort behind them. I like the trained dog one. The music is fine but the videos are the real art.

I don't know what this is. Millenials were the last generation with subcultures that wasn't a uniform homogenized mess.

Generations are so dumb I was in my 20's and that was a thing kids were doing but we're still lumped together.
