>DC Studios’ co-chief James Gunn has said repeatedly that he will only greenlight projects that have a complete script. That is a pointed difference from Marvel Studios, which famously reworks movies throughout the filmmaking process. Feige took issue with both the comparison between Gunn’s mandate at DC and Marvel’s approach, and the idea that Marvel needed to radically alter how it makes its projects.

>"I know there are filmmakers — James in my experience isn’t one of them; maybe he is now — who say, ‘If you want to be a part of my movie, you just say the words and you stay here the entire schedule in case we need you.’ We have so many actors, we can’t do that. We don’t do that. Actors, both the ones that are playing these characters for the first or second time and the characters playing them for the 10th or 12th time, are the best in the world at it and know these characters so well,” Feige said. “If they have an idea, you want to listen to it and you want to adjust to it and you want to improve it. I wouldn’t want to change that.”

I'm obviously talking about iron man to endgame here. And we both know that Gunn's DCU will never get that kind of success commercial, critically or even just liked by the fans

Actually it was more pointed inwardly at how DC had become before they took over and how things, were going to be different now as they will have better quality control and no fucking about with scripts now.

Look at later Zombie Snyderverse films like Aquaman 2 and The Flash. They do have the odd cool moment but overall you feel they were working on the script, rewriting on the fly even as they were shooting, giving a bloated end product with little of the original vision.

Look at the screenplay credits for Aquaman 2, there's about 20 people listed, and I highly doubt they were ever in the same room at the same timeworking on the script. No wonder it was messy in the end.

If Feige chooses to see that as a dig at him, that tells you a lot about his state of mind.

Wow. Actors are not writers. They get paid to read lines from people who are actually creative. You start listening to actors and things go to shit. Joker 2 was an abomination because they catered go Phoenix who had a dream of the Joker movie being a musical. Birds of Prey was garbage because they gave Margo Robbie control and she wanted to make it some woman empowerment movie and for Harley to cover up

Aquaman 2 also shot scenes with both Affleck and Keaton as Batman as the release date flipped between before and after Flash, before ultimately just scrapping the Batman scene entirely.
Shazam 2 also deserves to be mentioned in this post. They were banking hard on having Black Adam as the villain, and when Dwayne Johnson had his ego trip and decided no one less than Superman could fight his character, they were caught with their pants down and no backup plan, so they threw together some OC villains.
The movie even ends with a post credits scene with Sivana and Mr. Mind that is functionally identical to his scene from the first movie.

Feige missing Gunn's point. Gunn isn't saying actors should not be allowed to improvise or bring input, he's saying you should have the story and structure set up before filming begins so you don't end up spending a fortune re-shooting.

I'm no fan of Gunn, or his style, but I still prefer a film that is the product of a coherent vision instead of the movie-by-committee mess that Marvel shits out now. You're not watching anyone's story so much as a hodgepodge of crap made up as they went along and it clearly feels like it. I'd rather a shitty story that was planned out than even a well acted and made (meaning not Marvel) movie that is just cobbled together from improvised bits with no direction.

if you think left>right you are a retard.
left doesn't remotely work in live-action unless you want the movie to look like something RLM would watch in Pinketto.

Early screenings this week are confirming the leaks that came out a while back saying that he's actually a relatively normal sized dude that can use his ship to project a giant hologram into the space around a planet (giving the appearance of a giant, planet sized humanoid)

Is anyone legitimately a DC-only or Marvel-only fan?
I figure if you watch one comic book movie you'll watch another despite of which franchise it's from. But a lot of online discourse is really tribal.

I have periods whether I prefer one over the other but they do have differences so I don't think it would be a good idea to merge them, like some people want. I don't even like the crossover events in the comics.

Hemsworth and Waititi did nothing wrong. They basically made another Ragnarok which presumably everyone wanted and then when the movie finally came out all of a sudden people wanted another Dark World. It was just plain bad luck.

it isn't only the scale, his design just looks ridiculous.
the power level he's supposed to have is constantly at odds with how silly he looks.

he's also inherently hard to make work because the F4 can't fight him properly and he can't have any partial successes. it doesn't surprise me that the leaks confirm act 3 is about him walking very slowly towards a plot device while they try to stop him.

Blowing the Galactus load on the very first F4 movie is a hilarious decision when he could easily be a Thanos style villain. Why not make the villain fully Silver Surfer? Why establish the 4 can already handle the strongest fucking thing out there? Realistically how do you power scale fucking Dr Doom to Galactus? Galactus literally eats planets

i used to like both (snyderverse and MCU until Endgame). then MCU got woke as fuck, and i opted to become a DCEU fanboy, only to see the movies started to make no sense. then i watched DCU boot with Superman and decided i hate DCU as well. figured, hey maybe marvel as improved and watched Thunderbolts literally just two hours ago and holy fuck it's still so bad and still wokified garbage.

Relax anon, it’ll be fine. James Gunn will make up for it once we inevitably see Power Girl on screen which is gonna open the floodgates to other revealing costumes being seen. Gunn worked on lolipop chainsaw, he’s part of that “sexualization is cool if it’s empowering”crowd.

Yeah I don’t remember Gunn ever specifically saying that’s something Marvel does it’s just everyone knows that MCU movies, starting all the way back with Iron Man, don’t have shit for a script and just hope they can make it all work in editing.

The MCU version just has a giant dreadnaught ship that blows planets to smithereens and then harvests all the resources, the character of Galactus is just a big guy (like 20ish feet tall) and can do some projection thing from his ship to appear a lot bigger

>he could easily be a Thanos style villain

No, he couldn't. Galactus isn't actively malicious like Thanos, he is an universal force. All Galactus stories boil down to "Galactus is gonna eat us" until someone, usually Reed, pulls a device out of his ass to drive him away for a while.

Galactus can't fight, can't interact with character, doesn't have emotion, doesn't have goals beyond "eat". He's a one-movie villain, always has been.

it's hard, DC is "we have all the cool characters except Spider-Man and Dr. Doom but we're run by hacks" and Marvel is "we have all the lame characters except Spider-Man and Dr. Doom but we were (previously) run by people not quite as hackish as DC,"

Thunderbolts is the only thing remote to decent to come out since GotG3 and between that and Endgame there was only Spider-Man which performed well because of nostalgia bait. They really did set the bar so damn low that it would be funny to see even their own B/C-List characters outperform a new mainline movie.

Daily reminder there is a whole James Wan Aquaman 2 cut that according to actors was a whole different movie and featured Affleck heavily in the third act with a deep ocean batsuit. The keaton thing was a just a single scene after they cut Affleck from the movie.

infinity war and deadpool/wolverine were the last two good movies. everything after infinity war that wasn't deadpool/wolverine was dogshit.
