BUT, there are open to interpretation, in the sense that whatever you get out of his movies is also valid and moving. If you go into a Lynch movie having read an explainer of it, you are depriving yourself of the experience, part of the fun trying to figure out the mystery yourself and interpret it in your own way.
The symbolism can represent different things at the same time. There is "a" correct interpretation but it is not "the" [only] correct interpretation.
