Just watched Superman. I thought people were exaggerating and maybe it was subtle but that interview with Lois Lane about how the bad country was America's ally and the country being invaded was a country that we weren't friendly with.

Is Hollywood actually anti-Israel now? The Jews in charge are okay with thinly-veiled pro-Palestine propaganda in their big-budget movies?

It was a weird Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine amalgamation. I thought for sure they were doing a Putin parody at first, but the plot details made it seem much more similar to Natanyahu/Israel.

The movie is in a weird spot where its blatantly calling attention to current events, but said current events are so controversial that if the certain actors being satirized were to make a big noise over it they'd just be confirming how, yes, it really is about them.
I also think this is just a byproduct of James Gunn having 100% complete free rein to do whatever he wants as head of DC Studios now. There's no one looking over his shoulder and checking to make sure his movies are kosher because he's the boss.

I live in California and my theater cheered when Ben-Gurion was killed hahaha

The Russia stuff is a leftover from an earlier draft. Boravia first appeared in the second issue of the original Superman comic strip. It started off as a Russia/Ukraine allegory but eventually warped into an Israel/Palestine one. Jarhanpur was originally going to be Bialya, DC’s equivalent of Libya that also appears in the original comic.

Both Corenswet and the actor playing the Natanyahu stand-in are Jewish. I found it pretty odd, but there is a vocal minority of anti-Zionist Jews. Adam Friedland and Jonathan Glazer come to mind.

I was actually at a Bar Mitzvah where we all headed to Superman afterwards, and everyone was so pleased with the scene that they started spontaneously chanting "Death to Israel" and converted to Islam. true story.
