Actors tend to talk about having an audience to feed off as being important, but 90% of the work is done in rehearsal with no more audience than a film crew. The live performance will make a difference for the very top tier probably, but for most the main difference is stage actors have to get the performance nailed down and execute flawlessly during the actual show, while film actors have more leeway but also have to be better at adapting to what is asked for on the spot from the director or producers.
