The problem is mainly that it's basically impossible to pitch a new idea for a film / TV show without a preexisting IP to point to as proof that it can make money back for the studio.

There's some pretty good original, low budget stuff from the last 10-15 years, you just have to do some digging to find it. It's a shame that big studios aren't taking risks anymore. But independent creators are giving something to keep hope alive.
Then of course you have 100+ years of great film to explore that's more available than ever. So you have enough great classics to watch for the next 25 years, enough time for a renaissance in film.
