I don't think I have ever seen a more perfectly 5/10 show before in my life. I just saw this on Netflix and realized I've seen 4 and a half seasons of this show, and looking back I cannot remember a singular joke from this entire show that made me laugh. I can barely remember any characters plotlines either.

It's like every couple months I have nothing to watch or do, scroll Netflix, see this and can't find anything better, so watch an episode or two of the most bland inoffensive slop imaginable that at the same time gives you no desire to watch any further unless you truly have nothing better to watch/do.

only saw a few episodes, one of those 'i really want to like this' cases.

i remember when Futurama first aired, even as a kid i could tell 'new Simpsons' (besides the Halloween specials) was bad. the oversaturated colours were basically like an indicator you were watching a new one rather than a a classic episode.

come 1999 and they're doing some science-fiction thing? and it's actually good? even the 3D CGI integrates perfectly, the more 20something humour makes sense, shit was great.

this? not the worst thing ever, just wasn't very good, on any level. voice acting was fine, probably.

Even the name of the show is fucking boring. Can't believe there were multiple seasons of this

>I don't think I have ever seen a more perfectly 5/10 show before in my life.

That's every netflix show. They make them like that on purpose, almost if mandated.

The only exceptions are "netflix productions" from other countries, because they basically are produced in a completely different environment.
But all the US-made netflix shows are legitimately 5/10 every single time.

It does feel like Futurama had much more of a love for the Sci-Fi setting than Disenchantment does for fantasy. Futurama had plenty of episodes parodying or referencing classic and even some obscure Sci-Fi stories, Disenchantment is so ridiculously generic.

It was my go-to show to watch when trying to fall asleep back. Can't remember anything other than the last season having a LOT of focus on Tiabeanie's feet.
It wasn't funny or interesting but it wasn't boring to watch. Final season was obviously extremely rushed.

A fantasy parody show written by writers who have almost no knowledge of the genre. Compare it to pre-cancellation Futurama which had a writing team who loved science fiction.

The core story was garbage too.

there's so much mileage there, the same way Futurama went for the retrofuture thing. i know 'herp derp it's a reference gag to [old novel]' is pretty straightforward but they couldn't do exactly the same in a swords-and-sorcery fantasy setting?

Korgoth of Barbaria could have been kino.

On paper it should have been amazing. It's really hard to blame anything other than the writing. Setting had so much potential.

>they abandon the slob princess aspect S1 and make her super competent
>the setting went from being a fantasy world to being a bland medieval world with a handful of fantasy elements
>Elfo never had a consistent character, he had a different personality from one ep to the next, particularly after S1
>they forgot to put a straight man in the cast so there was no one to bounce humour off of.
>Luci... they didn't know what to do with him day 1
>People really liked the King... so they ruined him
>story went in circles and it was clear they never planned it for more than one season

why not watch heckin D&D players play D&D as an improv comedy game instead of how normal people play D&D, thus ruining D&D forever? (yes, i mad.)

Got to make it safe and palatable, How can you have marvel quipping in a serious dark violent fantasy setting?

Looks at how friendly these orcs are, they totally look like hardened warriors used to killed dozens of humanoids and eldritch abominations on a daily basis.

1. pig-faced orcs = best orcs
2. they're fucking fantasy monsters, actual monsters. people are insane.

Adventure time had already milked the setting of sword and board, video games and general fantasy.
I don't know what Matt groanings vision was. His rebellious 90s opinions not only became the norm, he ended up coming off as a bland conservative in comparison to modern pop culture.

I watched the first season and I was so underwhelmed I never bothered going back.
I also think they accidentally released the wrong version of the first season, or someone fucked up, because there was like NO sound mixing except for vocals and some foley, there was like no music, no bed, nothing.
Its one of those things I'm generally oblivious towards, and the fact that it made me notice is saying something.
I don't even know how I would rate it honestly. Just seemed like someone really liked the benders game futurama movie and said lets make a whole show like that.

Eat shit, hogfather is an 11/10 christmas movie I watch every year.
I really thing the bigger problem adapting his stuff is that he wrote a fucking zillion books which turns off a lot of people automatically because even someone like me, who reads a lot, doesn't want to invest in that kind of nonsense.

it's fine, and maybe you've got nostalgia for it which makes me feel pretty fucking old, but you can't deny they've never had as much success as the books. i don't think the catalogue is that intimidating either, honestly, you can read any of them standalone and out of order if you want, that's how i had to originally
