The actual cost of buying film and developing it is neglibible if you've got a budget in the tens of millions. It's like a hundred or two hundred grand, but that's really nothing in the grand scheme of things if your budget is $20 million or more. To rent a high-end digital camera like an Arri Alexa is not that much cheaper since you will need to pay a crew to operate it anyway.
