Joker: Folie À Deux was the last hollywood movie I would consider art.
It is also the only Joker movie I consider engaging a "supervillain" in a way thats not slop for the monkeyish masses.
I lost it when Joker and Harley Quinn started singing oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh oh oh oh caught in a bad romance
Like 75% of it is just reading the plot from the first film's wikipedia
I’ve sat with it for a few hours and I liked this movie quite a lot. These two movies are the really The Tragedy of Arthur Fleck, and that’s definitely not going to work for a lot of people but it did for me.
Two random points:
The final shot in the Joker Is Me musical number is etched into my brain. Joker staring at the camera, lights go dim but you can still see the glint in his eye as he pulls the trigger.
Harley, Joker’s followers, the media, are only really interested in the Joker. When Arthur denies the Joker, he’s shunned and killed. At the same time, a big portion of the audience here in the real world are upset at the same thing. He’s not the real Joker? So dumb, etc. We only care about the Joker. Maybe it’s pretentious but I like it.
>>212978828Oh shit did I say 2004 instead of 2024? Lmao! Can you believe this shit came out only 6 FUCKING MONTHS AGO. Joker 2 is a fucking joke and will be forgotten about faster than that time I got HIV in Thailand xD
