Capeshit peaked here. The Raimi trilogy has more soul and focus than all the dozens of MCU movies put together.

I agree. The Raimi Spiderman movies paid respect to the source material and embraced the fact that they were comic book movies, it was both campy and sincere. However Nolan thought it was a "great idea" to make capeshit le realistic and le gritty and the genre hasn't recovered since.

They're easily the best spidey and best superhero movies ever made. They're so good that seeing Tobey and the Rami villains back can actually save a shitty MCU Iron-Spider-Child movie.

the genre has been recovering from that bullshit for about a decade. the two pieces of shit known as josh trank’s fant4stic and snyder’s BvS ended the dark and gritty era of comic book movies. we literally just got a superman movie where he goes out of his way to save a squirrel. it really shows you just straight up don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

i have to disagree with you on that one

the studio had the right idea of introducing venom and sandman and pitting them both against spiderman - that concept alone proves spiderman is the stronger opponent regarless of the number his up against

plus, people wanted venom, not the vulture, its just how they brought venom into the mix that was lackluster

eddie brock is physically bigger than peter, he should mirror him is size. but i get it, raimi wanted topher grace as spiderman since the beginning, and making him eddie was the best he could do with studios interference

I just watched rewatched them. The Raimi trilogy had a theme and lesson to them. The new ones are all spectacle and forced humor. You never have scenes like this in the MCU films because they constantly have to have to make a joke out of everything.

>paid respect to the source material
He made a Peter Parker that never once shows any sign of intelligence, it's all just a bunch of people telling each other about how smart Peter totally is off screen, they promise. The closest he ever got to showing off Peter's techy side was by having him pull the fucking power cord out of Doc Ock's machine. That's it. That's not respecting the source material, respecting the source material would have kept his intelligence intact and let him build his webshooters to show off that intelligence because it's a fucking crucial part of the character.

But that's just following the school curriculum. Peter's supposed to be the guy who can invent stuff in his home lab, tweaking his webshooters to make new kinds of webs and tweaking the formula to deal with different threats better. A guy who would have been revolutionising science and worked with the likes of Reed Richards if he'd never been bitten by the Spider and felt the overpowering need to use his powers to help the little guy. Not just a guy who happens to not fail his college courses.

What's most impressive to me about Raimiman is how so many conflicting tones are juggled expertly. You've got humour, you've got camp, you've got romance, you've got pathos, and everything gels together so well.

One thing I keep absolutely SEETHING about to this day is in No Way Home, when they bring Doc Ock back, they have a callback to picrel, but comedically (Ironboy's nanobot suit takes control of the tentacles). The original scene gives me goosebumps to this day and those fuckers shat all over that.

If by fanfiction you mean the logical expectation based on how their powers work then sure, it's fanfiction. Nothing about Mystique's powers would let sentinels copy the powers of other mutants, because that's Rogue's fucking power! You have to be delusional to think they started out with the idea of them getting the ability to copy powers because of Mystique when Rogue and her power was intrinsic to the story from the very first movie.

Will Man-Spider ever get a movie or game adaptation? He was the best part of TAS.

That's what goblins do! There's no need to be a goblin that randomly chucks exploding pumpkins around while standing on a bat-looking thing, just be a fucking witch on a broom or some shit!

Well then Raimi's a fucking retard for chucking in that piece of comedy in a scene that's otherwise handled completely seriously from start to finish.

>Yes, Kirsten, it is ESSENTIAL that you go braless in this scene. We don't want you to catch a cold with a soaked bra, do we?
>My genius says that bras wouldn't be faithful to comics
>In issue #557, MJ goes braless, it's canon

I don't think Raimi ever made up excuses like that. He'd just go "it's sexier this way, and I need it to be sexy"

Absolutely. The films of raimi were real blockbusters, not the cheap garbage you see these days.
Dafoe was perfect as the green goblin
tobey as peter is iconic to this day
