Yes and he deserved it. He was becoming increasingly unhinged and would have done something if Dexter didn't do something. I do find it funny how Rita is just okay with Dexter being a autistic psycho and is more concerned with him being a drug addict, which he clearly isn't as he's extremely in shape.
