It still doesn't make sense the degree to which they fucked it up. Because speaking as someone who read the books, even the early seasons diverged from the books in a lot of ways, added tons of show-exclusive scenes, and the writing for those was still good. So it's not as simple as "they ran out of books to adapt" because clearly they knew how to write well even when they were making up their own shit. But when they ran out of books it's like they suddenly completely stopped caring about writing. And then of course the rushed ending because of Star Wars which we've been over a million times so I won't get into that again. I'm more concerned with how they were fucking it up even when they didn't have Star Wars to tempt them.
>>212980312 (OP)They got consumed with hubris. Imagine everyone telling you for 5 years straight that your show is literally the best thing ever put on tv. It's as simple as that. Add in a massive opportunity (Tard Wars) that was dangled in front of them and being sick of working on the same thing year after year and you get what happened. To any sane person looking in it makes no sense, but it's difficult to understand the level of hedonistic treadmill those 2 fucks were on at that point.
>>212980312 (OP)because GRRM was onboard as the script advisor unitl he left after Season 5. the exact turning point it started going to shit.
>>212980598Season 4 was dogshit too though. It just had a lot of the big reddit scenes so everyone forgets about it.
I can't get over the comments they made about the dragon burning the throne. The one redeeming feature of that episode where the dragon clearly takes its anger out on the symbol of power, recognising that this was its master's downfall, only it turns out that these retards didn't intend any of that and Jon was meant to just dodge out of the way and the throne just happened to be there. How does anyone be this retarded.
>>212980598So GRRM probably wrote the show original scens too?
>>212980774No, he really only wrote a handful of scripts. I do remember distinctly that his favorite show scene that he didn't have any hand in writing was the one with Arya and Tywin where he figures out she's a northern girl, and Robert's "war stories" scene being a close second.
>>212980312 (OP)>clearly they knew how to write well even when they were making up their own shitthere's a massive fucking difference between writing a scene or a sideplot in an already established ongoing narrative and creating the bones and setups and payoffs of a complex ongoing narrative, you dumb fucking zoomer
