Do you prefer the original or theatrical ending?
>>212981677 (OP)I really don't get why they couldn't use the footage for some sort of dream sequence or something; shitcanning the whole thing considering like half the budget of the movie went into making it was such a bizarre choice.
>>212981868it was a mistake to use the ending of the play at all. they made seymore and audrey too relatable and appealing. the ending they slapped together is much funnier and glib in a very 80s movie way that makes no sense
>>212981677 (OP)I didn't like it when the mean plant ate Seymore :(
>>212981677 (OP)>director's cut ends with Audrey II crashing through the projector screen. >except this version was never screened in theaters so the bit never got to playThis is weirdly depressing
>>212981868Frfr they could have easily sequenced it after Seymore gets approached by the CEO on the roof. Some of the footage is fucking unreal for 1985
I hear the original stage play makes Seymour more le evil so it seems like he has it coming when Audrey II kills him, but how did he not have it coming in the finished movie as it is? The plant eats human flesh and it's just getting bigger and bigger with no sign of stopping. Seymour brought it on himself and got what was coming to him (in the original based and redpilled ending). The theatrical ending sucks balls.
I still can’t believe they made a kid’s cartoon based on this. I know they did it for a lot of movies but it was just weird to make Audrey 2 Seymour’s good best friend during his childhood
>>212982955But he and Audrey went somewhere that's green.
>>212983030I went to a Halloween showing of Little Shop of Horrors at the Alamo Drafthouse several years ago and they had the director’s cut ending. It was weird because they didn’t advertise that would be the case, so I was left wondering if that had secretly become the official version at some point.
>>212981677 (OP)Theatrical. The characters are just too pleasant for such a dark ending.
>>212981677 (OP)Was it really necessary to make the plant black and have it cuck the main character in an interracial relationship

>>212984334What a bizarre thing to lie about, why wou- WHAT THE FUCK
>>212981868this, make it a thought cloud bubble, I don’t care. The Singer Superman did the same thing, cut out a long expensive Krypton sequence.
>>212981868>considering like half the budget of the movie went into making itReally? I've never heard this before.
>>212986123The worst thing Seymour does is intend to murder an insane, abusive dentist. All dentists should be killed, he did nothing wrong.
Only true kinoseurs have watched the Corman version.
>>212985356unfortunately seems like it has become the official version, just like cameron's bloated dc of aliens
>>212985441Plus the main villain, after doing a whole song about how they kick ass, turning to the camera, saying "Oh sheeit!" and then exploding like the death star is funny as fuck and alot more satisfying than ' Humanity gets eat murdered'.
>>212986053they're probably exaggerating but i'm sure it was expensive and time consuming, plus a whole song had to be cut
>>212985473Audrey II is green, retard
>>212981677 (OP)The original ending wasn't going to work from the moment they cast Rick Moranis as Seymore.
Not to say he's a bad actor, he's just too darned likeable to get eaten by a giant plant monster.
>>212986369Almost like everybody disagrees with your shitty, corporate-approved opinion.
>>212981677 (OP) I prefer the theatrical ending, because it's the version I grew up with. That being said, I can enjoy the original ending, and I can appreciate all the work that went into it. It's just a fucking bummer, and goes on way too long.
>>212986564The movie frames it as something much more meaningful than being "eaten". Listen to the lyrics of the " Somewhere that's Green" reprise
>>212986584What are you even trying to say?
>>212986800Idk I mentioned Cameron, which must have triggered some kneejerk response.
>>212986369>cameron's bloated dc of aliensI like some parts of the Aliens DC. But the whole "sentry gun" scene makes it so that when Ripley enters the nest at the end, there's only like 3 or 4 Xenomorphs left besides the queen. And making Newt's dad the first victim is a little too convenient.
>>212981677 (OP)I have nostalgia for the theatrical ending because I watched it when I was a little kid
