The Paint It Black scene is the culmination of that egomaniac’s self-masturbatory power trip fantasy. Rock does absolutely nothing in that scene but stand there with a stoic face while everything blows up around him, every single opponent is instantly defeated, and he is completely untouchable. It goes beyond being a stupid scene in a superhero movie, because knowing who The Rock is as a person and how he presents himself and how other people describe him, you just know that he watches his own scene and thinks that it’s just the coolest fucking thing in the world, and it’s all to the tune of one of the most overplayed songs of all time.

For a while in the 2000's, Black Adam was being treated as a big deal in the DCU who'd be able to fight and hold his own with a bunch of superheroes and was a constant menace to them.
It wasn't a bad idea to try and use him as a big villain/anti-hero for the DCU, problem is that the Rock didn't want to get his hands too dirty. Comic Black Adam is an asshole.
