>>212996133The premise of the movie indicates that it is a part of that movement
>>212996185I'm not against watching that kind of movie even in the modern era, but when someone's trying to say "look at the great reviews," that's just bullshit. Reviewers are expected to cheer for the concept and pro-racial narrative more than anything.
For a while, Get Out was listed as the #1, or sometimes more modestly the #2 horror movie ever made in the history of film.
>>212996505I just checked and Get Out is still #4 on the RT list, right between Alien and Psycho.
Reviews include:
>A penetrating analysis of racism in America.>Its sucker punch to the status quo has ensured it's impossible to forget.>Get Out isn't a great film because of its excellent pacing, strongly defined characters, and mastery of tone. It's a great film because it never loses sight of its concept.Rated 10/10 because it has to be. For an audience member without a religious dedication to the BLM movement, it's about a 5.5/10 watch.
I assume 40 Acres and Sinners will also be like that, but I haven't seen them yet
>>212996505>I'm not against watching that kind of movie even in the modern era>but
>>212997045My point was that you can't present the Rotten Tomato scores to say that it's great. I'll watch shitty movies, just don't tell me I have to consider them amazing because they're centered around some worn out moral concept
>>212992578Love that one, that riff is so cool.

>Paranoid>Master of Reality>Black SabbathI've never bothered much with the Dio era because Rising (1976) is superior and Sabbath without Ozzy frankly just isn't Sabbath. That goes for all four of them, really; speaking as a drummer, Bill Ward is criminally underrated (see: Supernaut) and his lack of presence was apparent on 13. Also, Ozzy's solo career is hit-or-miss but it goes without saying he still had plenty of classics (Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train both come to mind).
>This really sucks, the last time a celeb death got to me like this was BowieI still remember where I was when I found out Bowie passed so I feel that. Hearing about Brian Wilson sucked too, but Bowie was much more unexpected given he had literally just put out a new album the same weekend. It made his death that much more memorable, for better or worse, and I personally thought it was very fitting for someone like him to go out like that.
>>212997392A respectable top 3. I'm hard on Dio era Sabbath but Heaven and Hell gets a pass.

This sounds like it's taken from a musical or some shit.
>>213000251https://www.deepfocusreview.com/reviews/get-out/
>In the eerie prologue, a Black man (Keith Stanfield) follows some bad directions into a wealthy white community whose quiet, empty streets emanate a sense of dread. The sequence flips the clichรฉ of white people driving through a โbad urban neighborhoodโ on its head when a car pulls up alongside him and, as you might guess, it doesnโt end well. This opener echoes Peeleโs theme of Get Out: being black in America is a living horror show. >The film settles on young photographer Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, from the Black Mirror episode โFifteen Million Meritsโ), who prepares for a weekend trip to meet his girlfriendโs family. Rose (Allison Williams, from Girls) maintains that her affluent parents arenโt racist, though she concedes her father will probably mention to Chris how he would vote for Obama a third time if he could. So just casually racist.>When they arrive at the elaborate, secluded estate of Roseโs parents, Chris finds himself in the company of white liberals who seem desperate to bond with their new Black guest. Roseโs father Dean (Bradley Whitford) uses phrases like โmy manโ and โthang,โ while her mother Missy (Catherine Keener), a hypnotherapist, seems oddly preoccupied with helping Chris kick his smoking habit. Less well-meaning is Roseโs unstable brother (Caleb Landry Jones) and his allusions to Chrisโ โgeneticโ physical superiority. Chris reacts to this nonchalantly racist behavior with subtle, often silent reactionsThe last paragraph is the review of the actual movie, which the review describes as a formality.
The movie isn't technically well made, but they love the social commentary so much that it's instant 10s. And regarding the social commentary, it's pure praise. No disagreement with any point made. Critics like pic just say "listen to black people" and don't challenge it at all.
>>212991140 (OP)Thread theme
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyez-VSUNxg
>>213001317But that's the thing, they point out all these vague elements in the film and then jump straight to "and that's why the white man is the devil". It's just complete bullshit, there's no sinew to their thoughts. Peele could do a shot for shot remake of Birth of a Nation and they'd say it's a brilliant condemnation of America.
The anon who said it was a 5.5 was right, as a horror movie the reveal is very weak, not unique and low budget.
>>212998772What's this from?
>>212998593I love Ozzy and Sabbath but Ozzy is basically a musical fraud. Everything good in this career was written by someone else. In Sabbath he mainly songs Iommis guitar lines and he didn't even write his own lyrics in his solo stuff.

Dumb name aside, it seems to be a fairly well made early 90's slasher, at least from the first 40 minutes I saw. Has your typical dumb teenagers played by grown adults but the killer and the cops are pretty well acted, and the film seems to be fairly well shot like the scene on the ferris wheel, or the scene where the mad doctor sticks something in one of his victim's mouth.
At least the film seems decent enough to distract me from the pain of my tooth being pulled.
>>213005727>The Invisible Woman (1940)Does she get naked when invisible or what?
>>213005962Yes, she has to be naked to be totally invisible. But it's not like you see anything in a 1940s movie. Maybe just the thought that she's naked at the time though, yeah.

At this point, Mike Flanagan seems to be attached to about 1/4 of new horror IP.
>>213007977On this subject, are there any horror movies about this fear? Like, there's plenty of horror movies about people from the city going into the country and getting terrorized by hicks, it's basically it's own subgenre. But I don't know if there is anything about rural people going into a city and getting terrorized by gangsters or panhandlers or whatever. The closest thing I can think of are generally more action-y vigilante types of movies, or things like Would You Rather about rich people torturing poor people, which really isn't the same thing.

Watched an anime (it was below average) and 2 movies, one of which was horror.
>A Teenage Tragedy
I knew it was going to be bad, but I wasn't prepared for just how shit this movie was. Out of the 1,300+ horror movies I've seen, this is one of the worst of them all. Forget horror movies, this is one of the worst movies period. I'd rather be forced to watch Skinamarink, which I thought was incredibly boring, over this pile of absolute shit. The dialog in this movie might be the worst of any movie I've seen, horror or not. The plot just doesn't make any fucking sense because it's all jumping around to give everyone screen time. There's no cohesion between the majority of scenes. I went in thinking it was a school project film, and it has to be, there's no way else to explain it. If I wanted to torture someone, I'd put this movie on because it might do actual mental harm to them. NEVER WATCH THIS. Stop, I know the temptation to watch out of morbid curiosity is great, but DO NOT GIVE IN.

>>213021725Incredibly based.
>>213021570>>2130216374K UHD Blu-ray rips are not lossy, maybe you just don't know where to look? as long as you re-encode them properly, then they're entirely lossless.
>>213022263only a remux is lossless
what are some horror movies where the protagonists are outright evil/bad people? not counting stuff that follows the killer as the protagonist. bonus points if they learn nothing by the end of the film
>>213022587Motel Hell and Blood Diner
>>212995430Yeah I totally trust a group of unbiased media members and their lackeys to not simp for a brown mutts good movie
>>213022263>>213022409>4K UHD Blu-ray rips are not lossy>only a remux is losslessI don't think you understand what lossless video is. UHD Blu-ray are still lossy as in they have been encoded using lossy compression to get it to fit on a disc. The lossless movie file is fucking massive.
>>213022732of course the transfer is lossy to begin with, but anon tells(trolls) me that handbrake is lossless.
i mean even the master is lossy

absolute dogshit but i think i respect the hussle
>>213022801Even what you see in theaters is tens of thousands of lossy compressed JPEG2000 images. Raw 4K video is something like 33GB per minute or roughly 3TB for a standard 90 minute movie. Shooting in raw is fine, but you'd be switching out SSDs like crazy for all the footage one normally shoots.

>>212992054>I never liked the original movie. In my opinion the 90s was a bad time for horror movies. I can't remember a single good horror from the 90s.If you want to know why that was read my article from 2013....

>>213023073Meh. I gave it a shot and there's no gratuitous porno-esque shots or angle. It's just tits being out. Lame.
>>213018715The Dead Meat guy took some offense to the first one I think.
odd since it's affiliated with Bloody Disgusting who are quite liberal as it is.
>>213024172James didn't really take offense to it. He was just a little annoyed in a 'roll your eyes' kind of way at the sleazy sexual assault and tits in every segment.

>>213030332It's not a horror. Bumhouse went in the wrong direction. Not terrible but too long and too much talking.
