Zach Cregger is shooting his Resident Evil reboot later this year. He states that he has never seen any of the Resident Evil films. Is that normal, to make adaptations where you never bother checking what worked or didn't work in previous adaptations? I understanding wanting to have avoid copying other people unconsciously, but normally when people adapt things they make a point of understanding the wider context. It's like shooting a new James Bond film but you refuse to watch any of the other Bond films.
