No, at least I'm not planning to.
It's a real shame too because I genuinely believe that we as a society need to start embracing and protecting the older generations, and have a stronger family bond with our parents. This is coming from an american. The problem is that the well has been poisoned, I have a generic divorced helicopter mother Boomer who, overly concerned about grades and job performance when I was a young kid, and while she did never actually kicked me out at 18 the joke was made. She isn't going to leave me her house and try to build any generational wealth because she has to go on international vacations multiple times a year and has to get a reverse mortgage so she can have her early retirement even though everyone including me told her not to retire early with her high paying job with good seniority and benefits. She jokes about me "taking care of her" instead as a poor rentoid with zero contacts or social connections.
It feels extremely hypocritical of me to not care about what happens to her or plan on how I'm going to dump her into retirement home when she cannot live by herself anymore, because I don't want my kids to do that to me. If I can even ever afford to have them, lol But at the same time I can't ignore the fact that she and my parents didn't take care of me the way I wanted to be taken care of, so the best I can do is say that I'm going to try and be the type of parent that I believe should be allowed to live with their kids as an old age adult because I would put more effort into being that present, supportive parent figure that I wish I had. It's highly likely that it's 100% cultural though and if I ever do manage to have kids I'll probably just get dumped in a nursing home anyway because it's too much to deal with in our modern society and family values aren't as strong as in other societies. It's just a shame, but even if it's hypocritical, nobody wants to be the sucker who takes on the scam even if it's the right thing to do.
