It's a good show that gets a bad rap because of a large portion of it's normie fanbase, the kind of guys who have posters of Scarface on their wall.

the biggest failure of this show is that the "turn mr chips into scarface premise" is rushed and then it just wanders around from seasons 2-4, it only feels like things are happening because gus is there to distract you but really nothing ever happens. fuck season 2 and 3 they're such a slog to rewatch

It's hard to rate it now because I can't imagine if I would enjoy it as much if I were watching now for the first time. I definitely think that the show is painfully tedious on rewatch but that's because all of the suspense is gone which makes the slow burn build up completely pointless.

Too many episodes in seasons 3, 4 and 5. Drags in places and gets repetitive especially with the Walt/Jesse dynamic. S2 had good filler EPs like 5 miles out of ATM but became too serialised and the story got bloated and stretched out. Still 8/10 overall. Silly ending with the machine gun.

Breaking bad's narrative effortlessly mogs sopranos thoughbeit. It has a lot of the same attention to detail as the wire where it picks up on past plot threads or character traits and pays them off in a really satisfying way. Sopranos while still great feels like a chore to get through some episodes.
