Paramount deserves to be scammed twice if they are dumb enough to agree to it twice.

they have it all scanned and its copy paste.
>make fart sounds and poopoo jokes
yes, for 21 minutes.

then collect 1.5 billion dollars.
you were pretty close but you've over estimating the workload by a factor of 5000.

Their lawyer in the 2000s noticed their contract didn't mention online streaming so he got them the rights for nothing because Viacom's lawyers weren't paying attention. Whoever that entertainment lawyer is deserves his retainer.

As for the price itself Seinfeld and Friends streaming rights goes for similar fortunes. Good for Matt and Trey they made the silly show after all.

Put it this way. Up until this deal South Park was on HBO Max. Figures from a couple years ago state HBO Max made 449 billion in revenue. Now how much of it was due to South Park who knows. What are the operating costs of HBO Max? Who knows. But the amount of money they made is clear. Keep in mind supposedly HBO Max has something like 119 million subscribers worldwide, and the cheapest plan is 10 bucks a month. Do the math on that one. Are all the subscribers active month to month? Likely not. But still, they're making bank every month. Now factor in that South Park is effectively moving to Paramounts streaming service instead. Even if a fraction of subscribers shift to Paramount to keep up with the show that will be a major amount of money coming in every year. 1.5 billion for 5 years of content? Drop in the fucking bucket in comparison to what they'll probably make

Yeah, Larry and Jerry both got like half a billion dollars for syndication deals over 25 years ago. And now Jerry has OVER a billion dollars. Wealth just keeps generating wealth super fast. I saw on wikipedia the list of who makes what in a year, and Oprah won like 5 years in a row with around $250 million each time. The last entry said Dr. Dre won his year with $650 million. Michael Jordan is a billionaire. I remember seeing this quote in Sports Illustrated in the early 90s where Jordan said "Give me 50 million dollars and I'll disappear off the face of the Earth." And I didn't know exactly what that meant, only that it was considered an exorbitant amount of money at the time even for multiyear sports contracts on his level. Back then Bill Gates was the richest guy and he was probably barely a billionaire. Now there are tons of celebrity billionaires. Adam Sandler is probably a billionaire. The wealth disparity is so fucked. They're living on a scale so, so far beyond us 99%, and just playing with more and more exponentially accruing wealth by already having vast wealth. What if people with $40,000 jobs could in two years be making $65,000? But it doesn't work like that. For a lot of people it's been going backwards. When you're a multimillionaire you have to go out of your way to fuck up to lose money. No one can take it away but stupid investments. Anyone who works a job is at any moment at risk of losing it.

They have talked a lot about "therefore-but" rule. The entire thing is supposed to avoid "and, and then", but I don't think half of their episodes even follow it.
Take wrestling episode example:
>The boys want to get into wrestling; therefore, they attend wrestling class
>BUT they find real wrestling gay
>THEREFORE they they put together their own show-wrestling show
>AND THEN, they become succesul
>AND THEN, the wrestling instructor gets fired and blames the boys for it
>AND THEN, Cartman fires Token and Butter from the team (for no consequences)
>AND THEN, Vince McMahon arrives to judge their show
>AND THEN, the wrestling instructor tries to sabotage their show
>AND THEN, the instructor ends up being hired by Vince McMahon

South Park is on multiple streamers and always has been. It's on several TV channels too. They can run reruns in all sorts of ways. Friends is on Netflix and Max and Peacock all at the same time.

This is why these two smug fucks have always irritated me.
They can have something interesting and wise to say, but they don't hold themselves to those rules they place on everyone else. Which in and of itself is whatever. But after 30 years of them talking shit about everyone and everything, it's painful to see their own skills haven't matured at all. Money over everything.

By the way. For those who didn't follow the negotiation. 1.5 billy is them caving to the demands.
Matt and Trey wanted 3 billion for 10 years, plus the streaming rights they already have.
