Why don't we get stupid fun sci-fi movies any more?

Movies cost too much now for anything to be cheap but horror films. If you gave some newbie auteur 2 million dollars to make a kino he wouldn't even be able to hire a crew.

We do. We get shittons of them. There's more independent film makers than ever, especially in horror and sci-fi.

They're just not in theaters.

I wish i could pinpoint the exact reason I stopped finding Arnie kino, cause it was around the time this movie came out.
Like he wasnt even that old yet but I stopped liking his modern action movies. Even though i still enjoyed re-watching all the classics.
There was some kind of aura in his prime where he didnt need to do anything and it was completely believable that this was some superhuman who was destined to kick everyones ass for the next hour or two.

Sorry you just get nonsensical sardonic crap from now on. The powers that be have decided your optimistic curiosity about the future is problematic.

Cause dumb people think dumb sci-fi is for dumb people, so they try to make 2deep4u philosophical movies because they think that's what smart people want to see.

Imagine if Spielberg didn't rope Bay into making Transformers movies for a decade, he could have been pumping out more original sci-fi kino like this (alternating with Bad Boys type movies) instead

It was so funny that the resolution for clone Arnie in this movie was joining the navy to die for oil in the middle east

Ben Affleck invented a machine that could do it, but I don't think they ever explain how. His job was to reverse engineer stuff so I guess someone else had already done it and he just worked out how to copy it? It's not a very good movie so who cares desu.

Something about a telescope that can see around the world faster than light or some shit. The only real thing I remember about this film is being annoyed they didn't show Thurman's tits
