By statistical definition it's more likely to be true than not.
It's irresponsible not to think that, until demonstrated incorrect.
I don't know what percentage under 50% it becomes a stupid guess, because even at say 20% you're right 1 time in 5 which is quite a lot.
I'd say it has to be under 10% to be stupid, 5% to be silly.
How many stereotypes that still exist in real life are accurate 10% of the time or less?
If so, how did they even get to be stereotypes?
The truth might be uncomfortable and offensive, it's still the truth.
