The reason that MCU is in the shape it is now is because they haven't done a proper build to the next big bad. There's enough material for them to pull from for the next 100 years, they just have to execute it right.

I'd give the movie a 7.5/10. Good dynamic between all of the characters, Pascal was a better Reed than I was expecting. There could've been more action though, I wish that they had a 15-20 minute scene of them fighting Mole Man in the beginning of the film, the movies isn't very long anyways. Your visibly pregnant wife says "Yes, we are." Speaking for everyone. A woman trying to assert her voice in a way that is utterly comical and antithetical to her established purpose. And this is why I detest every project Pedro Pascal s ever in. His lifestyle choices make it so that he never EVER speaks up for the male role. Reed Richards is written to be a hero. Superheroes are role models. Role models are figures that BOYS AND MEN would want to BE AND EMULATE, Yet Reed Richards is utterly emasculated and highly effeminate. I think I'm going to call the movie here but I'm officially done with Marvel and Hollywood from here on out. I cannot seriously take a woman trying to lead a man. Or Silver Surfer as a woman. Looks like some stupid looking robot. Entirely non-intimidating because the female form is designed that way. If Silver Surfer was Jack Reacher then he'd have your attention because it'd look like the kind of guy you wouldn't want to see what he was capable of if he were motivated.

But as a woman the threat falls right on its face. And those tits look weird.

The whole decision to cast RDJ is annoying and bizzare to me, and I'll mald forever that we can't just have a straight interpretation of Doom.

But I really don't think this is likely. The comics have done both 'alternate reality Tony Stark who becomes dr doom of that universe', as well as 'doom takes over Starks mind and makes him into a new doom', so there's precedent for something like this, and why the fuck would you cast RDJ if you weren't planning to do something similar?

Best case, they slightly distort his voice and we literally never see doom's face, and they really just treat it like RDJ was cast for a separate role - no spiderman seeing him and being all "Why does he look just like mr Stark? uwaaa!" bullshit.

That would seem like a huge waste of RDJ salary though, but it's the only way they could do it that wouldn't be fucking annoying.

It was very refreshing not having a zesty black guy in 30% of every scene like Superman.
