LOGH is left-wing.

The Galactic Empire is a corrupt, decadent absolute monarchy where most people live like peasants. Reinhard creates a clique of other minor nobles and officers with common backgrounds and overthrows the old order.

Our hero on the Free Planets Alliance side is a peace-loving misunderstood genius who just wants to retire and write history books. The government is deeply corrupt(like all corporatism governments) and the leader is a warmonger with a bit of charisma but no real substance.

LoGH is outstanding, its a tough entry with how dense they worldbuild and set up the plot for the first dozen episodes but god damn once it picks up it never stops being kino.

for me, its the episode with the Admiral Lutz who had been around since the beginning but never had much dialogue and then finally he spends an entire episode holding off enemy forces in the woods and sacrifices his life to let Reinhardo escape and it was fucking 11/10

reinhard overthrew the old world order and made himself the absolute monarch, not every revolution is inherently to the left
and one of the biggest themes in yang's story is how good men dont want to participate in politics while scumbags (trunicht) do, he laments constantly that honest democracy keeps getting ruined by corruption, like how yang could run for election as a war hero but won't on his principles
