So I finally watched it. The opinions on this board were quite spot on, so I won't repeat them again. I'll just mention what is not talked about much. Inb4 I don't really side with either Gunn or Sneed.
The movie feels like a mess. From the Gunn interviews, it felt like he didn't quite know what he was doing, and it shows. The movie starts too abruptly, it constantly throws new shit at you without rhyme or reason, without introducing or explaining much. Luthor is constantly starting some new shit. You can find like 10 logical holes and loose ends in the movie without trying too hard. Ma and pa Kent get 1.5 scenes, if you thought MoS did it bad then I have bad news for you. Supergirl appearing at the end was the last drop.
The second thing is, it's just not that good as a blockbuster. The CGI looks way too cheap, the fisheye lens is COMPLETELY FUCKING RETARDED, not that much action and the few good fights were all shown in the trailers.
I was really hoping Gunn would """fix""" the franchise. I thought MoS was too hasty, the plot was a bit weak and the CGI had started to age… and then Superman 2025 comes out and it's an even bigger mess, with even worse CGI. Wow. Snyder, call him a hack or not, at least produced a good popcorn flick with assplosions.
Not hyped for a sequel much unless Gunn gets his shit together, something is telling me Gunn DC is stillborn

Pretty much everything Lex
1. Why the fuck you need all that crap to kill Superman if you can clone him and create pocket universes
2. How do you breathe in a pocket universe
3. The whole hateboner Lex has for Superman is unexplainable
4. Portals conveniently crack the Earth
5. Apparently inside a portal there's a photon (or whatever) river that will tear a human apart but Superman was just bathing in it and flew away from a fucking black hole with ice breath
6. Ultraman being controlled with drones that no one noticed
7. When they do get noticed, they get destroyed and he's still brainwashed
8. About zero story for Clark's parents
9. Supergirl getting wasted while Clark was getting bodied
10. Lex's girl fell for some random nerd from a newspaper

literally none of these, literally none, like literally, and or figuratively, are plot holes. theyre just things you don’t like, which is fair.

most of these can be explained with lex being envious of superman
he even said in the movie

Yeah, so this is the reason for why he can breathe in a void and why a portal made a crack in Earth, ok
So he started a war in Boravia… Just to justify killing Superman… yeah ok, the whole thing is phoned in as hell

> 1. Why the fuck you need all that crap to kill Superman if you can clone him and create pocket universes
He wanted to kill Superman, and many miss this part, legally. He wanted Superman destroyed both his body and his image
> 2. How do you breathe in a pocket universe
Lex added oxygen
> 3. The whole hateboner Lex has for Superman is unexplainable
He gave a whole monologue. He’s jealous of Superman, but projects a grander narrative on top of it
> 4. Portals conveniently crack the Earth
The portal is expanding and taking up the space the ground used to be. It’s why the ground returns to semi-normalcy after Terrific reverses it. It wasn’t correctly fixed which is why cracks remains
> 5. Apparently inside a portal there's a photon (or whatever) river that will tear a human apart but Superman was just bathing in it and flew away from a fucking black hole with ice breath
Superman is pretty strong. He used his super breath to escape not the ice breath.
> 6. Ultraman being controlled with drones that no one noticed
The drones didn’t control him, Lex was controlling him from his office. The drones were cameras so Lex knew what commands to give him
> 7. When they do get noticed, they get destroyed and he's still brainwashed
See #6.
> 8. About zero story for Clark's parents
That’s not a logical hole
> 9. Supergirl getting wasted while Clark was getting bodied
See #8
> 10. Lex's girl fell for some random nerd from a newspaper
Jimmy gets around. This is less of a hole and more of a contrivance. I would have liked better foreshadowing. Maybe an offhand remark about a crazy ex

Jimmy being inexplicably attractive to women is an in-joke where his character would get all the relationship drama in the 60s because Superman was permawelded to Lois. at one point Olsen had his own comic that outsold both Superman and Batman's. different times.

I’m >>213023688. I know that but I don’t think it’s fair for audience members to know it’s a cheeky reference. Within the context of the movies him being a chick magnet is set up, but I think it needed a little extra “umph” so an astute audience member could potentially see the Tessmacher twist coming.

Fair point but still. The guy has almost godlike powers, there's just so many things he could do differently
>2
>Added oxygen
Somehow palpatine added oxygen to a universe, ok
>3
>Monologue
Aaand it's just all jealousy because… because… because it is, ok?
I just mean it's all pretty weak, "bad guy is so bad and has such a big ego, he's absurdly jealous of Superman". I don't find this good or believable at all.
>4
>Portal
I thought it'd tear up a universe, not make a crack. It's a fucking black hole
>5
>Pretty strong
So… he's weakened and can't fly fast enough… But… can blow himself away from a black hole. Yeah.
>6
Ok maybe fair point, kind of weird how he taught Ultraman all these voice commands
>8
That's a whole in the writing

It's a short way to do Nietzschean Ressentiment, it's entirely appropriate for a superman movie

Gunn is a low IQ degenerate pedophile. GoTG has the same problem of it all being nonsensical slop.
