every anime forum was angry about this, Harmony Gold butchered Macross, greedily held on to the rights, blahblahblah.

quite liked Macross, decided to watch this, and honestly it's pretty fucking decent. i know it's not 100% true-to-the-source (they mashed it up with a couple of other shows to pad the runtime) but the voices are (mostly) fine, they kept the references to sex, alcohol, blood etc.
