I think you could pick randoms on the street who would do a better job acting than most "actors" in this shit

The extreme shininess is a result of a chemical process when the film was developed. Cannot be replicated with digital cameras.

I once had an extremely close friend of 25 years, we went through thick and thin together, grew up together, went to the same boarding school, same uni, used to swap notes daily on our favourite kinos and vidya. Then he ended our friendship because I got mad at a different friend during a board game and his girlfriend didn't like what I said (she had also been crushing on the 3rd friend for a while surprise surprise)... prior to this though he absolutely HATED Excalibur when I recommended it to him, said he didn't get it, it was too long, boring, bad acting blah blah. I never probed him on it because his criticisms always seemed both superficial and convoluted so I just avoided the argument.
I realise now that he was just a seething pussywhipped pleb and that this movie is an undeniably great litmus test in general.

When I try to watch this I am way too suffused with pleasant emotions of being a little kid to judge it meaningfully

ADR hurts the movie, but Lancelot the Based saves the movie.

I actually liked the ADR, gave characters like arthur and merlin deeper, more commanding voices

>ADR hurts the movie
It is necessary for the movie. You can see how noisy that shit must have been.
Especially when they're on the ground fighting and their direction was "Just beat the shit out of each other lol" because they had blunt and soft weapons in full plate armor.

Strange women, lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some... farcical aquatic ceremony!
You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!!
I mean, if I went 'round, saying I was an emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

The King Arthur mythos as we know it (Knights in shining armor, Holy Grail, Lancelot, Guinevre etc.) is FRENCH. It is literally French fan fiction based on some obscure Welsh folk story. You watched a French movie.

Yeah, basically. Le Morte d'Arthur is deeply unpleasant to read.
