Thats a lot of why i don't wanna watch it again.
I remember talking to some liberal chick about it (really) and she couldn't get through it because of all the rape. I get it because it is really brutal. But thats what makes the movie so impactful.
She also didnt buy the two characters bonding over their shared misery and imprisonment. It was a while ago but i think she couldn't get over her own idea that racial slavery is the worst and cant be equated or empathised with in any way unless by other similar racial slavery. It was dumb but an interesting conversation at least.
