That's what drives the whole conflict though and is an interesting look into what humanity would do in such a situation. These people have spent generations striving for the things they're doing and suddenly a thousand free worlds pop up. A ton of people would rush out, a ton would try to sieze power in the chaos, and a ton of people would be suicidally violent to prevent the change as their lives crumble apart.

It's far from perfect but the first two seasons are kino and it's still much better than other "hard(ish) SciFi" series, as far as I'm aware of. It's kind of the "one-eyed man is king amongst the blind" kind of deal. I really wished they trashed the "protomolecule" idea while writing the script to make this a real hard scifi series but oh, well, it's still bretty good in comparison. The other one worth watching is "for all mankind" but that show has lots of interpersonal drama that is a bit cringe at times but I would say it's even better overall than "the expanse" overall.
I can't wait for people uploading AI enhanced versions of series like making Naomi less annoying in the later seasons for example.
Also, enhance your experience with the ingestion of edibles for maximal immersion and to smooth out some of the rough spots.

Expanse was great because you could ignore the stupid shit and focus on the cool shit, like the fact that it's the only show that even attempts to depict space travel in a semi-believable way.

That other anon was 100% right, the remaining humans on Earth would have not stopped until literally every belter was dead. There is a 0% chance anyone would have been wanting to come to diplomacy, they would have genocided literally every single being in space and they probably would have nuked Mars if they got in the way too, even if it made the situation worse. You seriously underestimate the bloodlust of a people whose innocents have been struck in an attack, they absolutely do not care about whether or not some elements inside of the enemy are ambivalent.

Avasarala would not mean shit if every single one of the dozens of billions left were baying for blood. Her entire staff would have family or someone they know dying or dead, if anything they would attack without her consent. Again, there's no realistic eventuality where BILLIONS of dead Earthlings wouldn't result in total war. 9/11 featured 3,000 dead Americans and the public reaction was to bay for any middle easterner's blood.

Many are friendly, and many have locations you need access to for other things. Get it yet? The Earth needs stations and people in the Belt for its operations. And the vast majority of people on Earth are braindead and NEETS that sit around collecting basic income because there's no jobs or anything to do. After 9/11 a sizable number of Americans were calling for genocide, and support for war was absolutely unanimous. This was 9/11 times literally a million. I'm not even exaggerating it is a million times worse than 9/11 in sheer death count. There is not a single human on Earth that would give a single solitary fuck about any belter that could ever possibly do this again. Every single nation on Earth, if they were not already united, would so unite. They would absolutely not stop until all the belters were eliminated to the last person, and then replaced with some Earthling if absolutely necessary.

Nope. You're acting like it's some singular group. It's not. There is no "genocide belters" because there is no group all living in one placed named belters. You're saying something like "genocide Europeans". There's a whole bunch of countries in Europe and Europeans all over the world. Same for Belters.

Yes, it is exactly like "genocide Europeans." It would include all groups that could be classified as European. Belters are very specific societies with separation from both Martians and Earthlings. They have physiological identification, and though their societies are stratified they are identifiably spacenoid and would have if anything a unifying cultural quirk of being outsiders. Humans on Earth would unify towards genocidal intentions towards any people that resembled such, and they'd likely be messy about it. It would be quite brutal, that kind of comes with the territory when billions of your kind were all murdered at once.

After an attack like that the IRL the level of death dealt to the belters would have been unreal. This is why academics and armchair politicians could can never lead. Because they don't have the balls to do what needs to be done. Civilian casualties don't matter when the actual survival of if the state is threatened. I'm not talking the survival of some strategic asset. Im talking the home soil. Trust me if something like that happened to the U.S. the belters would be obliterated until they were sure anyone even remotely connected was dead so the perpetrators hiding would just make it worse for any other belter. It would be like if some country nuked even one city in the US. The country that did it would not longer exist down to the women and children. Trust me when I tell you this.

You absolutely can genocide them all, it's extremely doable. With the technology of the Expanse they could reliably locate any human habitat from across the solar system. If Earth were so inclined they absolutely could have genocided every belter, especially after Inaros' abortive rebellion was put down. There was not a single human ON EARTH that was unaffected by a belter attack, every single person would have been united in wanting to kill every spacenoid alive at that time. You seriously underestimate how a tribe of people reacts when facing an exigent crisis.
