He should never wear a hat in the whole trilogy. Though, Zelda would look nice in a a cute lil hat every once in a while. But the "classic" pointy green hat won't work, especially on this motherfucker. Look at his serious ass face. Him wearing that thing just wouldn't work.

Adventure Time ruined hats because the audience is trained to believe that if a character is always wearing a hat, they're hiding something mysterious underneath. Link will probably wear a hat in at least one scene but not the whole movie.

The medieval era actually was very colorful and full of weird styles. Fantasy based on that should reflect that.

Also, not all characters dress in bright colors in Zelda. Zelda wasn't irl medieval and wasn't based on it. Or if it counts then it only counts as loosely based on it.
