A Star Wars lightsaber duel falls apart the moment you consider that by simply switching off the saber and turning it back on, you can immediately win a duel unlike with a real sword made of metal. Yet, no one in the movies does it even once. Because it's suspension of disbelief. If you can suspend your disbelief for Star Wars, you could certainly do it for a superhero movie. In your case, you simply have an aesthetic preference of one over the other.
