Why do I never see any discussion about this absolute masterpiece cinemakino? It's the most beautiful mystical fantastical film i've ever seen. Are they any films that compare?

It's seen as classing up the "chopsocky" kung fu/wire-fu people grew up with, using arthouse production & "careful storytelling + character relationships". But it's not the soul of the genre, more like a bid for mainstream respect/attention. Any "Poetry" it has is ripped from A Touch of Zen. Zhang Ziyi was briefly hot on casting list. Took Michelle Yeoh much longer to be hot here, esp as she rides the "Hollywood raycisst history!" wave.

I saw it back in the day when i was a massive kung fu/anime nerd.
I remember absolutely nothing about it.
