I made friends with this irish guy in hong kong many years ago during the >necknomination era and he did this exact manoeuvre with his pint glass, when it shattered behind him he just kept speaking on camera until somebody walked up to him to complain, as they were complaining he was nodding along and somehow managed to very calmly take their pint off them and drink it... was genuinely hilarious once they realised, so I don't think its exclusively scottish behaviour kek
