Why did Universal turn The Land Before Time franchise into direct-to-video shovelware after the first one? It could be as big as Jurassic Park if they treated it with care.
>>213066317 (OP) tell me anon where exactly can they go plotwise for a sequel? They had like 17 different chances to make a good sequel and the only decent one is the one that rehashes the plot of the first one
>>213067345 dawg, it's a movie with dinosaurs set in their own time. Anything can be a story. It's more crazy that they keep pumping out Jurassic Park stories.
>>213067419 they already did these anon, some more than once >>213067531 and that's exactly what they did for 16 sequels >>213067439 could've had potential, depending on how exactly it was done. it's a could've, not a would've.
>>213067345 The main cast become teenage dinosaurs, then adult dinosaurs Another generation that's the children of the main cast Descendants of the first main cast but they are evolving into different dinosaurs A whole new gang of different dinosaurs A movie from the carnivores perspective Another extinction event

>>213067816 >and that's exactly what they did for 16 sequels yes, but all the sequels had the production value of a CW show. The first one had Don Bluth animation and James Horner music.

I think being chained to the original cast plus post great valley is what limited it in the end, they basically got the ultimate ending where almost nothing should have gone wrong after.
>>213068357 This. They wanted to make a franchise out of a setting and cast that had already reached their end and because of that they quickly fell into bland music slop half-assed for quick bucks.
The truth is, I was hoping for an episode where neanderthals hunt them and they find a way to betray them. Yes, I didnt know shit about time periods then.
>>213067489 >And they all grew up together in the valley-- Generation upon generation, each passing on to the next: The tale of their ancestors' journey to the valley... long ago. >donโt lose your way

If you're not already aware, the series became Christian Fundamentalist and they reveal it's 4000 BC and they're walking alongside man. This actually happened in 7 or 8.
