A lot of the people fled between 1850 and 1920 would end up being sympathetic to the Fenians. Most plastic paddy's have inherited a disdain for the English and support the idea of reunification with the north.

No, they aren't irish. Not really anymore. They've become something different as Americans. However, that doesn't mean their isn't a link to Ireland, even if its through identity and tradition more than actively practiced culture.

Your country is a tiny little island that hasn't recovered its population from the big hunger. You'd think your distant cousins would have more purchase with you as a people. I guess you really are destined to fade into the obscurity of history as Hibernia becomes a land of brown shades and islam.
