Shrek 2 is a better film but it doesn't work as well as a standalone, whereas Shrek is a perfectly complete film all by itself.

tough pick. farquaad was one of the best villains in the entire shrek series but the 'i need a hero' sequence in shrek 2 was one of the best scenes in the entire franchise.
