from a financial perspective it makes sense. If they can avoid doing nudity early, it provides a late career boost in earnings. If they do it early, they have to hope that it's enough to make them serious money because their appeal will quickly fade.
So for an actress who doesn't have much hope of a long career, early nudity works. For someone who expects to work a while, it will be counterproductive.
