>>213083840 (OP) The idea of "gun ports" is idiotic in the first place, but they needed something to be misunderstood. Scanning lasers of some sort would have been better. The humans would construe them as targeting. Many militaries do raise weapons to signal salute to others, diplomatic events, high level officers and dignitaries

>>213084115 People wonder why creativity is so dead. JMS spent years crafting an intricate story, characters and world with a long arc and plans if actors dropped out or things went wrong. All to have it all stolen and used for some other show that became far more popular and is remembered over his. Why bother being a creator anymore?
>>213086590 It's been a while since I watched DS9 but yeah from what I remember there are quite a few parallels with B5.

I think what really set off the misunderstanding was how the alien ship was sending out signals that were messing with their systems. What still makes it kind of retarded tho is they were warned about them beforehand by other aliens and for some reason nobody thought it made sense to use neutral third parties to make contact with another superpower in the area. Like everyone forgot basic shit we use today for first contact and negotiations. Also the aliens were full retard. No way they made contact hundreds of times.
>>213083840 (OP) >is so old it appears in your ancient religious texts >immune to your younger race weapons >doesn't need a jump gate >will make your jump gate blow up if you try to get away >it's beam slices through your capital ships like butter >never misses >360's back into hyperspace without a trace hehe, nothing personnel kid
>>213088060 Shadows were so badass, blew my little kid mind the first time I saw them. The mystery around them was so well done, you barely get to see them just little hints here and there. Everything they do in person is done through 3rd parties. JMS really knew how to build up suspense.
