>>213084461 (OP) Then: >Hmm... let's use this computer graphics sparingly, mostly at night, or for brief glimses. It's not quite realistic so we need to use it in a smart sparing way. Also we're going to hire the top talent.
Now: >Hmm... let's use this cgi in every other scene, and let's hire south east asians or Indians. Let's give them a horrific deadline and they have to do it really fast.
Later: >Hmm... let's use this AI effects in every scene.

>>213084461 (OP) So-called "live action" films are 95% CGI, it's ridiculous. Even in movies that shouldn't be big on CGI, like dramas or crime thrillers, use it to a large extent. Those city backdrops?, all fake. They don't even film on-location anymore.
>>213084461 (OP) It's not rocket science, more studios make it for cheap than before, audiences eat shitty cgi slop up so there's no point in paying for the really good expensive stuff. People complain about shitty cgi on social media but in the modern media climate the quality of cgi is so far down the ladder of issues that even if they fixed it, you would just have something bad that looks good.

>>213084765 >Those city backdrops?, all fake. They don't even film on-location anymore. I find it very difficult to watch movies made after 2010 for this reason. The backgrounds look too clean. The lighting isn't quite right. It's a huge immersion barrier when every movie looks two notches above Spy Kids.
>>213085053 And the horrible color grading from digital cameras Everything's a shade of gray I can't even remember the last time a movie had a natural blue sky Even the so-called new "colorful" Superman movie has the grayed color palette
