Corners are literally how they sell drugs lol. Being able to take a corner through muscle and intimidation is literally the drug dealer version of being able to buy a location to sell your product.

Stringer was Incomprehensibly retarded to not understand this. I honestly wonder if Avon wasn't gay for Stringer because it just makes zero sense why he let him have so much power

In the long run, Avon's plan was literally destined to fall apart one day or another, by getting himself killed or arrested because he wanted to prove something.

While Stringer understood that streets aren't forever, you have to move up and diversify like he tried to do, it was the right path for both of them.

hmm no.
he gets schooled by Clay Davis and rage quits demanding Slim Charles kill him. Avon, wisely, chimes in to remind Stringer he sounds like a bitch saying this

It was stupid to kill him, but the essence of the idea was good he should have scared the hell out of Davis by one way or another to gain his respect.

Stringer gets played by Clay and the real estate fucks but he still had the correct idea to move away from the street beefs and let the money work itself. Freamon and McNulty both pressed for the investigation to continue on him because they said that he wasn't far away from basically being untouchable by being the bank. Avon's warring kept them both connected to the street level shit and ultimately became their downfall.

>make money from selling drugs
>you sell drugs on corners
>some other drug dealer is taking your corner and you canโ€™t sell drugs there anymore
I mean itโ€™s not rocket science. Either take back the corners or stop being a drug dealer. Stringer wanted something in between and he got killed for it.

>it wasnt about making money for him. he makes it clear and even ridicules Stringer it isnt all about "bizness".
That fell flat for me because he clearly enjoys being extremely wealthy. His ability tospend money is 100% owed to Stringer's laundering schemes. Then there's that scene where he and Stringer reminisce about how they dreamt of becoming rich and owning the city when they were young.
But then they turned him into "muh corners" because it was convenient to create conflict between them. It's shitty writing

Power. In the hood there are no rules. No one's immune to bullets. You're as powerful or as weak as you're perceived to be. It doesn't matter if you're technically making more money, if people think you look weak, your days are numbered. Avon knew this
