Watched the first episode and was like damn why do I remember disliking this show so much, Empire is kino as fuck. Then the next ep is Gaal centric and I remembered. What a terrible actress.

When this first came out I gave up like 2 episodes in because all the browns were annoying. But empire's arc is really cool, i'm up to s03e02 now

Season 3 has been good so far though, now that Salvor is dead the show should be much improved. Her actress couldn't act.

The subtly loss of all background sounds, in the moments after Day gives the signal, before slowly returning to normal, is really good sound design. Evokes insects suddenly going quite, when the peace is broken, on an otherwise quiet night.

This guy successfully tricked me into hating him while playing the colorblind Dawn, he came off as such a wimpy faggot that I assumed that was all he could do but I was pleasantly surprised at how good he is at playing a more stoic and intimidating Dawn. I also really liked the kid Dawn scenes in season 1.

She is distracting when the script calls for her to show heightened emotions but not offensively so.
The other black chick was very irritating but I think that was a product of the whole show being more obviously and forward with the "woke" stuff (yes, I know, "chud", etc.), which has been toned down this season in favour of entertaining us and moving the plot forward. Almost every female character was extremely annoying in the first two seasons.
A slightly different treatment of Salvor could have been much better, textbook girlboss shite

He comes off as a sort of shy and goofy sweetheart of a fellow in interviews, very personable but I suspect he's more of a team player and not one to necessarily pursue carrying massive projects on his shoulders.
I'm guessing he really likes acting, since he's so good at it, and likes to choose his roles.

It's odd that they'd take such pains to adapt the source material well, while simultaneously sabotaging it with warmed over, past expiration date politics.
I suspect this is a simple case of them being provided with hard numbers and parameters to meet that are no longer in play.
